Ruth
Gilmore was a full-time lecturer at the Queen's University
of Belfast for many years, first in Physiology and then
in Anatomy. She took early retirement in order to devote
more time to yoga, but continued for a while to contribute
part-time to the University's Nursing Education programmes.
Ruth is well-remembered for her teaching skills by a generation
of Queen's medical graduates, and was awarded prizes for
teaching by the Faculty of Medicine. She is a qualified
yoga teacher with additional training and expertise in
the use of yoga for help with various medical conditions.
Ruth has worked for over a decade with the Yoga Biomedical
Trust (YBT) at the Yoga Therapy Centre in Islington, London,
and for several years with the Life Centre, London (LC).
She is responsible for Anatomy and Physiology tuition
on the YBT/LC's revised fully modular Yoga Therapy Diploma
course, one of the world's leading yoga training programmes.
She has also presented both yoga and anatomy adult education
classes for the Queen's University of Belfast, and contributes
to a variety of other educational and training courses.
Ruth's
background of anatomical and teaching skills, combined
with her easy and gentle style, make her classes enjoyable
as well as relaxing and beneficial. Her firm belief
is that everyone of any age, and of whatever state of
health, can practise yoga from their very first class;
all it takes is the willingness to give it a try, plus
a teacher who knows how to make the practice accessible
to all. So why don't you give it a go and enrol in one
of Ruth's classes>>
